The engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine. Meanwhile, standard on the sportier M340i is a 3.0-liter straight-six engine producing 369 horsepower and paired with four-wheel drive. With a top speed of 155 mph, it can reach 0-62 mph in 4.4 seconds.
A 2.0-liter diesel engine with four cylinders and 187 horsepower powers the 320d. Similar to the 320i petrol, it is rear-wheel drive exclusively and has an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its peak speed is 149 mph, and it takes 6.9 seconds to get from 0 to 62 mph.
The 330d, which was great (in our view), has been discontinued, so performance-minded diesel customers looking for a straight-six engine will have to settle with the M340d xDrive.
